Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts seeks an Assistant General Counsel (Contracting/Regulatory) to provide strategic legal counsel on provider/vendor agreements, regulatory compliance, and government programs, including Medicare. The ideal candidate has six+ years contracting/regulatory experience and strong business judgment.

The role collaborates with Government Programs, Network Contracting, Procurement, and other business areas to navigate a complex regulatory landscape while driving

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school and active Massachusetts bar in-house eligibility.
• Minimum six years contracting or regulatory experience; in-house healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong ability to assess legal risk in a business context and advise on regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to Procurement on vendor agreements including health, software, consulting, and service agreements.
• Advise Network Contracting on network provider relationships and regulatory issues at state and federal levels.
• Counsel on Medicare and government programs, including privacy and data security considerations.
• Draft and negotiate ancillary contracts such as confidentiality agreements with vendors.
• Review internal/external communications for legal risk and compliance.
• Manage a diverse workload to meet deadlines in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Support leadership on additional legal projects as directed.
