Qualifications

• Knowledge of Switchboard practices and procedures from 18 months to 2 years in a medical center or similar setting preferred but not required.
• Information retention skills needed to accurately take and relay messages.
• Organizational skills needed to prioritize workload and record information accurately.
• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Receives and relays internal and external calls and provides general information according to protocol.
• Maintains desk directories, on-call list, reference guides, and other reference materials.
• Operates beeper and paging system to contact personnel and code team.
• Communicates codes, alerts, drills, and announcements according to policies and disaster plans.
• Responds and directs customers to appropriate departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
