UC Irvine Health is seeking an experienced Authorization Clerk to manage prior authorizations, verifications, and documentation within Epic. You will ensure care continuity and accurate eligibility checks while handling a high-volume workload.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience with insurance carriers, strong knowledge of payer guidelines, and proficiency in Epic and Microsoft Office. This is a temporary position within UCI Temporary Employment Services, primarily Monday–Friday, 8:00

Qualifikationen

• 3–5 years of experience directly working with insurance carriers on healthcare authorizations, referrals, or benefit verifications.
• Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic health record system.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and managed care insurance plans, and payer guidelines.

Aufgaben

• Submit prior authorization requests to health plans and managed care organizations for outpatient services, diagnostics, procedures, and medications.
• Track, follow up on, and document authorization statuses in Epic to ensure care continuity.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits with payer guidelines and departmental policies.
• Process high-volume authorizations (30+ daily) with timely turnaround for routine and STAT requests.
