Job summary

UCI Health in California seeks an Authorization Specialist to obtain required authorizations in line with guidelines and verify eligibility. You will generate letters for approvals and respond to Member Services inquiries, resolving authorization issues as they arise.

The role requires one year of recent experience in patient registration or medical billing, good English communication, familiarity with ICD9/CPT codes, and ability to travel to off-site physician practices. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or in medical billing.
• General understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Demonstrated experience using MS Office.
• Ability to travel to off-site physician practices.
• Knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes.

• Obtain all necessary authorizations in accordance with established guidelines.
• Verify eligibility and generate letters for authorizations.
