Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience directly working with insurance carriers on healthcare authorizations, referrals, or benefit verifications.
• Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic health record system and Microsoft Office applications.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and payer guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Submit prior authorization requests to health plans and managed care organizations for outpatient specialty services, diagnostic testing, procedures, and medications.
• Track, follow up on, and document authorization statuses within the Epic electronic health record system to ensure care continuity.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits while maintaining compliance with payer guidelines and departmental policies.
• Process high-volume authorization workloads (30+ daily) with timely turnaround for routine and STAT requests.
