Job summary

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is hiring an AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy ML models that impact patient care and operations. You will collaborate with clinical leaders and data teams to identify opportunities where AI can optimize workflows.

The role requires 3+ years in ML/AI, strong Python and cloud experience, and excellent communication skills to translate complex data into strategic insights for leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science or related technical field.
• Three years or more of professional experience in machine learning or AI engineering role.
• Two or more years of professional experience in data analysis.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Core ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, XGBoost.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experienced in any cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their AI/ML services (Vertex AI, Azure ML, SageMaker).
• Strong communications skills in relating complex subject matter to senior management.
• Ability to manipulate large data sets and identify trends using BI tools.
• Ability to lead projects and to coordinate efforts of developers of varying skill levels.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
• Problem-solving and analytical skill level to effectively diagnose unpredictable model behaviors, decompose complex data challenges and optimize system-level compromises.
• Verbal and written communication skills that bridge the gap between technical data and business strategy by translating complex information into jargon-free explanations while utilizing data storytelling that communicates trends and why certain metrics matter.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and coordinate the development of AI solutions to meet the strategic needs of business areas across the organization.
• Support the machine learning lifecycle from identifying data to maintenance in production environments.
• Implement best practices for continuous integration, delivery, and training of the models.
• Serve as a liaison between business users, data engineers, and developers to build, implement, and integrate AI solutions into services and products.
• Create and maintain technical and user documentation for models.
• Lead data analysis to support strategic decision making
• Utilize data visualization and trend analysis to produce reports for leadership teams.
