Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is seeking an AI Engineer in the Information Technology team to design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions that impact patient care and operational efficiency. You will work with clinical leaders, data engineers, and admins to identify opportunities and optimize workflows.

You’ll lead AI projects, maintain documentation, and communicate complex results to senior leadership while applying CI/CD and data analytics best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, ML, Data Science or related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in machine learning or AI engineering.
• 2+ years of professional experience in data analysis.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, XGBoost.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML services.
• Strong communication skills and ability to relate complex topics to senior management.
• Ability to manipulate large data sets and identify trends using BI tools.
• Ability to lead projects and coordinate developers of varying skill levels.

We are seeking a forward‑thinking Al Engineer to join our Information Technology department. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and artificial intelligence solutions that directly impact patient care delivery, predictive diagnostics, and clinical operations. This AI Engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including clinical leaders, data engineers, and administrative staff, to identify opportunities where Al can optimize workflows. Applying process improvement principles, you will help us eliminate system bottlenecks and ensure our technological infrastructure scales effectively.

What You’ll Do:

• Facilitate and coordinate the development of AI solutions to meet the strategic needs of business areas across the organization.
• Support the machine learning lifecycle from identifying data to maintenance in production environments.
• Implement best practices for continuous integration, delivery, and training of the models.
• Serve as a liaison between business users, data engineers, and developers to build, implement, and integrate AI solutions into services and products.
• Create and maintain technical and user documentation for models.
• Lead data analysis to support strategic decision making.
• Utilize data visualization and trend analysis to produce reports for leadership teams.

Job-Specific Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science or related technical field.
• Three years or more of professional experience in machine learning or AI engineering role.
• Two or more years of professional experience in data analysis.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Core ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, XGBoost.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experienced in any of cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their AI/ML services (Vertex AI, Azure ML, SageMaker).
• Strong communications skills in relating complex subject matter to senior management.
• Ability to manipulate large data sets and identify trends using BI tools.
• Ability to lead projects and to coordinate efforts of developers of varying skill levels.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
• Problem‑solving and analytical skill level to effectively diagnose unpredictable model behaviors, decompose complex data challenges and optimize system‑level compromises.
• Verbal and written communication skills that bridge the gap between technical data and business strategy by translating complex information into jargon‑free explanations while utilizing data storytelling that communicates trends and why certain metrics matter.
