Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to own end-to-end deployments of AI models within healthcare organizations. You will lead discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, and handoff, translating complex workflows into production systems.

This role collaborates with customer teams and internal partners, offers relocation assistance, a hybrid 3-day-in-office model in Seattle, and travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software/ML engineering or related experience.
• Hands-on with end-to-end discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, and productionization.
• Experience translating customer workflows into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical solution end to end from discovery through architecture, implementation, evaluation, production deployment, adoption, and handoff.
• Translate payer, provider, or health-system workflows into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
• Design and implement production AI applications and agentic systems integrated with customer infrastructure and enterprise systems.
• Build safeguards for PHI, HIPAA, privacy, security, governance, auditability, and regulated delivery requirements.
• Define and operationalize evaluations, validation evidence, human-review workflows, escalation paths, and launch criteria.
• Use evaluation results and feedback to improve system reliability, performance, and production readiness.
• Distill deployment learnings into reference architectures and reusable technical primitives for healthcare environments.
