Job summary

OpenAI is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer in San Francisco to lead end-to-end deployments of AI models for payers, providers, and health systems. You will own discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, and productionization while partnering with customer teams and internal partners to deliver measurable outcomes.

You’ll drive evaluations, error analysis, and deployment learnings into repeatable architectures and security controls, with a hybrid in-office model and relocation support

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software/ML engineering experience.
• Senior engineer or deployment owner with decision-making in ambiguous environments.
• Healthcare domain experience including payer/provider/EHR interoperability (HL7, FHIR).
• Hands-on discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, and handoff for complex customer-facing systems.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end deployments of AI models within healthcare orgs.
• Lead technical discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation and productionization.
• Collaborate with customer teams and internal partners to deliver solutions.
• Define evaluations, analytics, and launch criteria aligned to customer benchmarks.
• Translate deployment learnings into reusable patterns and security controls.
