Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team deploys production AI systems inside healthcare environments, working across payers, providers, and health systems. You will lead discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, and productionization of customer solutions.

This role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid 3-day-in-office model, relocation assistance, and travel up to 50% to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software/AI engineering or equivalent experience in complex environments.
• Hands-on experience delivering customer-facing or enterprise systems.
• Experience working with healthcare workflows and regulated environments.
• Familiarity with EHRs, interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and PHI/privacy controls.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end deployment of AI models within healthcare organizations.
• Translate customer workflows, data, and regulatory constraints into production systems.
• Collaborate with customer and internal teams to deliver solutions and improve product.
• Define evaluation criteria, launch readiness, and deployment success metrics.
