Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System is seeking a Medical Administration Specialist within the Business Administration Service.

This role provides administrative responsibility and oversight for programs and activities in HAS, supporting outpatient care across the VASNHS. The incumbent will supervise MSA staff, coordinate resources, and ensure high-quality, patient-focused service delivery.

Qualifications

• Time-In-Grade requirements: GS-09 requires 52 weeks at GS-07.
• Specialized experience: 1 year equivalent to GS-9 in medical center admin and program administration.
• Education substitution: Master's or graduate degree or 2 years of higher-level graduate education.

Responsibilities

• Supervises HAS in a multifaceted capacity to support Chief, Health Administration Service.
• Oversees administrative functions and utilization of resources for outpatient care.
• Coordinates staff leave, training needs, and quality improvement within the service area.
• Resolves complex problems to ensure efficient, patient-focused services.
• Provides back-up coverage for supervisors at other locations as needed.
• Maintains contact with subordinate staff for front-line supervision and direction.
