Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin seeks an experienced Accounting Operations Leader to develop and oversee accounting strategy, ensure GAAP compliance, and provide financial insights to senior leadership as part of the strategic finance team.

This role manages general ledger, cash accounting, reporting, internal controls, audits, budgeting, and forecasting while leading a high‑performing team in a complex health care environment; CPA is required and an MBA is preferred.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge and financial reporting expertise

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement accounting strategies, policies and procedures aligned with organizational objectives.
• Accounting Operations Management: Oversee general ledger, cash accounting, investments, payroll, fixed assets, month‑end close and reporting.
• Cash Accounting Applications & Treasury Support: Oversee cash accounting systems, bank reconciliations and treasury support.
• Financial Reporting: Manage monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting and reconciliations per GAAP and internal controls.
• Internal Controls: Establish and improve controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Compliance And Regulatory Oversight: Maintain knowledge of accounting, tax and healthcare regulations; ensure compliance.
• Process Optimization: Drive automation, standardization and system enhancements to improve efficiency.
• Team Leadership And Development: Lead and develop a high‑performing accounting team; talent management and coaching.
• Budgeting And Forecasting: Support budgeting/forecasting with historical data and trend analysis.
• Audit Management: Coordinate external and internal audits; liaison to auditors.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate financial information to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
• Change Management: Lead system implementations and policy updates; foster continuous improvement.
• Risk Management: Identify financial/compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Special Projects: Lead mergers, acquisitions, system integrations and new initiatives with accounting expertise.
