Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for 80% FTE part-time days. This on-site role supports a busy medical/surgical unit, coordinating communications, discharge planning, and patient flow under the supervision of the charge RN.

Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent is required.
One year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience is preferred.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications when allowed by law.

Responsibilities

Thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment with multitasking and strong organizational skills.
Provide staff, providers, and patients with an efficient system of internal and external communications.
Respond to patient and family inquiries in a timely, courteous, and accurate manner.
Maintain a welcoming and organized unit environment for patients, families, and staff.
Assist in managing patient flow, including admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
Prepare discharge packets and coordinate transportation and paperwork for transfers and testing.
Handle unit paperwork and inventory; use Epic, Teams, and Outlook for coordination.
Collaborate with the care team to prioritize patient satisfaction and care delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
