Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center Montlake is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for a part-time 80% FTE role in Seattle. You will provide essential communications, assist with patient flow, and coordinate discharges in a fast-paced environment on-site only, with collaboration across care teams.

The role requires strong organizational skills, healthcare or customer-service experience, and proficiency with Epic, Teams, and Outlook.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or higher.
• At least one year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience.
• Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a busy, fast-paced unit with multitasking and strong organizational skills.
• Provide efficient internal/external communications, including answering phones and triaging call lights.
• Respond to patient and family inquiries promptly and courteously.
• Maintain welcoming, organized unit environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with the charge RN to manage patient flow, admits, transfers, and discharges.
• Prepare discharge packets and coordinate transportation and paperwork for transfers and testing.
• Handle unit paperwork, chart maintenance, consent forms, and documentation.
• Maintain inventory and restock supplies; use Epic, Teams, and Outlook for communication and coordination.
• Support patient satisfaction and high-quality care along with the care team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
