Job summary

Essentia Health in Superior, WI is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator/Medical Secretary to plan, organize, and support non-nursing functions on the surgical unit, enhancing workflow and patient care. You will handle clerical duties, scheduling, and reception to improve unit productivity and the patient experience.

Preferred candidates have training or experience as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist in a hospital or clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a health unit coordinator program or medical secretary program.
• If no formal education we require 1 year experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.
• No educational requirement.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and implements non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow and patient care.
• Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling.
• May observe telemetry monitor when indicated; notify patient’s caregiver of changes; other duties as assigned.
