Job summary

UnityPoint Health - Meriter is seeking a Health Unit Assistant to coordinate communications among nursing staff, physicians, patients and families, and to support unit operations. The role includes managing the desk area, monitoring bed status and facilitating Epic workflows for patient care orders.

The HUA works to ensure efficient daily operations and exceptional patient care, while collaborating across departments and supporting a culture of belonging and professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient keyboarding and strong communication skills.
• Ability to stay organized and coordinate multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

The Health Unit Assistant (HUA)coordinates communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients and families relating to patient care. The HUC facilitates unit operations through knowing and communicating information, managing the desk area, facilitating the use of technology, monitoring and communicating bed status, and coordinating downtime procedures. The HUC utilizes Epic to facilitate patient care orders and serves as an Epic resource to physicians and the nursing staff.
