The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Health Aid and Technician to support clinical day-to-day operations in the Surgery/Specialty Clinics at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. The role requires handling administrative tasks, monitoring patient conditions, and assisting medical professionals, ensuring high standards of care and operational efficiency.
This position is in the Surgery/Specialty Clinics at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, in Aurora, Colorado. The primary purpose of this position is to support clinical day-to-day operations related to technical health care procedures under the supervision of the Surgery/Specialty LPNs, Registered Nurses, and/or Clinicians as competency is demonstrated and documented.
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be June 30, 2025, and applicants will be referred on an 'as needed' basis. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for Health Aid and Technician Series 0640
Specialized Experience: Positions in this series include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Technician experience involves applying the knowledge, methods, and techniques relevant to the specific position.
And,
Specialized Experience (GS-06): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade in the normal progression for the occupation, demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) required to perform the duties of the position. This includes tasks such as using a computer for administrative duties, observing and reporting patient condition changes, documenting medical records, screening patients, setting up examination rooms, collecting and labeling specimens, performing EKGs, and blood glucose testing.

Education substitution: Six months of graduate education in an accredited institution, in a field related to the duties of this position, may substitute for experience.
OR,
Combination: A combination of education and experience that meets the qualification requirements.
Preferred Experience: Specialty Clinic Experience.
