Summary

This position is in the Surgery/Specialty Clinics at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. The primary purpose of this position is to support clinical day-to-day operations related to technical health care procedures under the supervision of the Surgery/Specialty LPNs, Registered Nurses, and/or Clinicians as competency is demonstrated and documented.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for Health Aid and Technician Series 0640 include:

• Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Experience involves applying the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position.
• GS-06 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 in the organization, involving tasks such as using a computer for administrative duties, observing patients and reporting changes, documenting records, screening patients, setting up examination rooms, collecting and packaging specimens, performing EKGs, and blood glucose testing.
• Education Substitution: Six months of graduate education in a related field or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience: Specialty Clinic Experience. To qualify, combine the percentage of required education and experience to reach 100%.

Duties

• This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT
• Referral cut-off date: June 30, 2025; ongoing referral as needed
• Open until no longer needed, but no later than September 12, 2025
• May be used to fill additional vacancies
• Responsibilities include answering calls, administrative tasks, performing treatment procedures, de-escalating disruptive patients, performing ECGs, reporting post-void residuals, observing and reporting patient condition, documenting medical history, screening patients, performing point-of-care testing, assisting with clinic flow, setting up procedures, and other duties as assigned.
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 4:30 pm (Compressed 9-hour tour)
• Physical Requirements: Regular physical exertion, including walking, bending, reaching, stretching, lifting, positioning patients, and moving objects. May require above-average dexterity. Defending self and others from physical attacks and maintaining certification as per facility policy.
