Reports to: USA Health & Safety Manager.
Job Location: H & S Coordinators are required to travel to the construction site on rotation. We have various sites across the United States and Canada.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator has a functional link with the Project Directors, Project Managers, and other Site Health & Safety personnel. The Health & Safety Coordinator plans, organizes, controls, and evaluates the activities of the Occupational Health and Safety Department at a national level.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health and safety program and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in a Health & Safety Coordinator role within the construction or industrial sector.
  • Experience in interpreting OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Bilingualism (English and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Great geographical mobility (25 to 50% of the time).
  • Knowledge of applicable state environmental and safety laws/regulations and standards.
  • Well-developed people skills.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate initiative, autonomy, and leadership.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent team management skills and conflict resolution methods.
  • High administrative rigor.
  • Advanced experience with using Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., MS Office, Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Incident Management Tools.
  • Knowledge of TapRoot (an asset).
  • Valid driver's license.

What you will do to complete this mission successfully:

  • Visit the sites at a national level and produce system/field audits.
  • Create documents (procedures, forms, etc.) and update them according to the specific needs of the worksites and customer requests.
  • Update the documentation on PROCORE and compliance (internal system) and the documentation related to the health and safety system.
  • Review documents based on debriefings and accidents that occurred during the year.
  • Develop procedures, forms, and booklets for workers.
  • Create a register of hazardous products used on sites, find material safety data sheets for products used, update them on PROCORE and compliance, and keep them up to date.
  • Process and classify documents from site.
  • Correct subcontractors’ pre-qualification forms and send the result to the site to inform them of the result, the duration of the pre-qualification, the methods of control, and the missing documents.
  • Update each state's prequalification based on information received from subcontractors and work sites.
  • Answer questions from subcontractors, occasionally.
  • Verify the content and detail of accident investigations, root cause, and corrective actions.
  • Set up and conduct various training sessions and exams.
  • Provide prevention program training and accident investigation training.
  • Support projects in the choice of training suppliers.
  • Lead and participate in Site Health & Safety Committee meetings to ensure that system and accident aspects are communicated on all sites.
  • Generate statistical reports and document tracking documents from site.
