Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience with accurate alphabetic and numeric filing; preferred.
• One year hospital experience; preferred.
• Knowledge of terminal digit filing and medical terminology; preferred.
• Computer data entry with 10-key, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm; preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a medical terminology course; preferred.
• Background in business and office training; preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure and maintain patient health records on discharge from the hospital.
• Verify receipt of all patient records and assemble into the legal medical record.
• File loose reports into the medical record in terminal-digit order and maintain the chart tracking system.
• Review Emergency Room documentation for completeness and assign deficiencies to the responsible staff.
• Answer telephone calls and assist visitors while maintaining confidentiality.
