Qualifications

• Previous hospital admissions experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet required timelines
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Customer services experience required
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient or representative to obtain demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Work closely with Admitting department, PBX operator, and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate with the population using age-specific techniques.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects within specified timeframes.
