Job summary

Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Health Information Assistant (HIA) for an evening part-time position. You will support the Health Information Manager by monitoring and completing resident medical records, ensuring accuracy, organization and accessibility while handling nursing station administrative tasks to improve care delivery.

You will coordinate admissions, manage records, follow up on physician orders, schedule labs and appointments, and assist with referrals and discharge

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Long-term care or healthcare experience.
• Previous experience as a health office secretary; training in medical records; experience with coding.
• Knowledge of regulations, documentation requirements and legal issues.
• Previous experience transcribing physician orders; knowledge of medications and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resident-centered admissions, initiate medical records, prepare labels and input admission data.
• Maintain organized, accurate in-house medical records and ensure chart order.
• Monitor physician orders and signatures to ensure timely completion.
• Track labs, schedule resident appointments, arrange transportation, and transcribe orders.
• Prepare referral/transfer paperwork and ensure accurate transcription of orders.
• Prepare discharge documents and assemble complete records per discharge procedures.
