Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a dedicated Release of Information Specialist to handle requests for medical records from patients, attorneys, insurers, and other third parties. You will receive, validate, document, and respond to information requests while ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.

The role is onsite at Cedar Rapids and requires strong attention to detail and customer service skills. Previous ROI experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have Release of Information experience.
• Experience in a hospital/clinic setting or with electronic health records.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medical information in accordance with facility policy and procedures and state/federal laws.
• Notify appropriate UnityPoint Health areas of any court order/subpoena.
• Log and fulfill requests or submit to approved release of information vendor for fulfillment.
• Complete invoices for requestors and follow up on payments.
• Receive and validate properly executed HIPAA-compliant authorization and/or request.
• Collaborate with departments to investigate and resolve issues related to documents, MPI, and HIPAA requests.
