Job summary

Virtua Health, serving South Jersey, seeks a part-time Health Information Management (HIM) document imaging specialist. The role focuses on capturing paper records, indexing, and ensuring quality for Epic and OnBase systems.

You will support patient data integrity and assist physicians with deficiencies in the electronic health record. Responsibilities include scanning, indexing, and quality audits, plus coordinating with departments to maintain the Legal Health Record.

Qualifications

• 2 years of medical office experience required.
• Strong knowledge of medical record formats.
• Ability to use Microsoft Windows environment.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
• Sound decision making and teamwork ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; customer focus.
• Experience operating scanning hardware preferred.
• Previous HIM department experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic health record systems preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Capture paper records into OnBase and manage images in Epic.
• Monitor image quality and index queues for accuracy.
• Handle Epic In-basket queues for MyChart and releases.
• Verify demographic information and patient merges in Epic.
• Analyze documentation to assign deficiencies for regulatory completion.
• Educate physicians on deficiency completion.
• Validate deficiencies and notify physicians for suspension when needed.
• Monitor chart completion and issue suspension notices per bylaws.
• Validate interfaces to ensure accurate data in EHR.
• Support unbilled accounts and assist AR goals with data corrections.
• Maintain paper records storage and security.
