Job summary

HealthNet in Indianapolis is seeking a Medical Record Specialist to collect, process, analyze, and disseminate health information for patient care, research, process improvement and training, while upholding HIPAA privacy and regulatory standards.

You will develop workflows, maintain record security, manage paper and electronic records, coordinate release of information, and ensure timely off-site chart handling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and interdependently.
• Strong critical thinking and judgement.
• Knowledge of performance improvement methods.
• RHIT certification or HIM coursework preferred.
• 3-5 years healthcare office or medical records experience preferred.
• Clinical data management skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, retrieve, analyze, and disseminate medical records for patient care, research, and quality improvement.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.
• Assist with workflows, policies, and procedures for records management.
• Release information and coordinate with centers and vendors.
• Perform quality control audits and data trend analyses.
• Upload external electronic medical records and manage paper/electronic systems.
