Job summary

HealthNet is seeking a Medical Record Specialist/HIM Analyst to collect, analyze and disseminate health information for patient care, research and process improvement. You will maintain confidentiality and adhere to state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities include developing workflows, securing records, coordinating releases of information and supporting quality improvement initiatives across HealthNet’s Indianapolis area centers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• RHIT certification or HIM coursework preferred.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• 3–5 years in a healthcare office or medical records setting preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Ability to anticipate difficulties and adapt.
• Strong critical thinking and judgement.
• Knowledge of performance improvement methods and activities.
• Clinical data management skills (formatting, trending & analysis) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement workflows, policies and procedures for medical records management.
• Assist in annual plans for medical records management.
• Analyze information to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support HIM projects to meet timelines/deadlines.
• Ensure retention, purging and destruction of records per policies.
• Assist with filing, scanning, release of information, and record processing.
• Design and inventory forms for receiving, processing and tracking information.
• Maintain privacy and security of records in paper and electronic systems.
• Release records in compliance with laws and guidelines.
• Coordinate with health centers, patients and vendors for release of information.
