UW Health seeks a Health Information Access Specialist - Record to support scheduling, ambulatory access and pre-visit planning by identifying pertinent patient information. You will work to optimize record gathering, abstraction, and prior authorization workflows, using EMR tools and Access Database to coordinate retrieval from external providers.
The role requires 1–3 years of release of information or scheduling experience, with EMR familiarity (EPIC preferred).
This is a full-time position that is remote. Qualified applicants must be able to work 8am to 4:30pm CST, Monday - Friday. Applicants hired into this position can work from most states. Work closely with UW Health Specialty Clinics to identify pertinent patient information to assist in the scheduling, ambulatory access, and pre-visit planning processes.
Collaborate to optimize workflows around record gathering and abstraction, streamlining the prior authorization process, and optimizing use of electronic medical records.
Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) functionalities and Access Database to coordinate record retrieval from external providers.
Associate's Degree in HIM, HIT, or other relevant discipline preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, or other related discipline may be substituted for years of experience required.
One (1) to Three (3) years prior experience performing release of information activities, patient access and/or scheduling and registration or direct patient care experience required.
Electronic setting preferred.
Experience with EMR (EPIC, Care Everywhere - preferred) required.
