Job summary

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment seeks a Health Professional II for the HFEMSD Academy to perform portions of on-site health facility surveys and investigations. The role emphasizes learning through structured training, gathering evidence, and producing regulatory documentation under supervision.

You will advance from observation to active field work, applying regulatory knowledge, and participating in quality assurance and reporting activities within Colorado.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of relevant experience in health care in a facility or program regulated by HFEMSD.
• A combination of related education in Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, or closely related field, and/or relevant experience equal to five years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct portions of on-site health facility surveys and complaint investigations under some supervision.
• Participate in entrance and exit conferences, interviews, and observations.
• Collect, document, and organize evidence to support compliance determinations.
• Draft portions of Statements of Deficiencies (SODs) and supporting documentation.
• Continue structured training and applied learning modules.
• Apply regulatory knowledge to real-world scenarios through case studies and field assignments.
• Draft reports summarizing findings and compliance determinations.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within established timelines.
