About the role

At EZ Health, our Health Coaches help older adults with the parts of healthcare that tend to pile up as people age: extra appointments, new medications, forms and a growing list of calls to return. A lot of the seniors we serve can tell something needs attention but don't know the first step. As a coach, you're the reliable person who helps them figure it out and get it done.

Everything happens over the phone. You'll learn each client's circumstances, decide with them what comes next, and stay on it until it's finished. This is a good fit for someone who is patient, warm and enjoys working through a messy problem.

This isn't a call center job. You won't be cycling through a line of callers you'll never talk to again. Coaches keep a caseload of no more than about 20 clients, which gives you the time to get to know people and keep supporting them as their situation changes.

What you'll do
  • Call your clients regularly to check in
  • Ask good questions to find out what each person actually needs
  • Get clients ready for medical appointments, then help them understand the follow-up instructions
  • Put benefits, referrals and medical information into everyday language
  • Contact doctors' offices, pharmacies, insurance companies and community organizations for your clients
  • Set up practical help such as transportation, prescription refills and meal programs
  • Research options and work around obstacles when plans stall
  • Keep clear notes on every call and the next steps
  • Track each open task and see it through to completion
Who we're looking for

A healthcare background is a plus but not required. We care most about how you treat people and whether you follow through.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy talking with older adults and earning their trust by phone
  • Don't mind spending a large part of your day on outbound calls
  • Listen closely and know what to ask next
  • Can break down complicated topics so they're easy to understand
  • Remain patient and kind with people who are worried, confused or frustrated
  • Can manage several ongoing cases at once and keep them all straight
  • Take initiative and finish things without needing reminders
  • Feel comfortable using email, Google Docs, Google Sheets and other online tools
  • Like solving real problems with practical solutions

We rely on technology and AI to keep our work organized and efficient. Still, what sets our best coaches apart can't be automated: empathy, good judgment, persistence and a real connection with the people they help.
