The Director of Nursing (DON) is an integral member of the management team, contributing healthcare leadership and expertise to promote an environment of optimal living for residents. The DON will plan, organize, and direct the overall operation of clinical services in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines to foster the highest quality of care. He/she will ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, focusing on employee and resident safety.

Required Skills, Experiences, and Competencies

As a Director of Nursing, your responsibilities will include Resident Care, Nursing Leadership, and Regulatory Safety and Compliance, including but not limited to:

• Leadership Excellence: Maintain, manage, and inspire a team through recruiting, interviewing, mentoring, and coaching.
• Resident-Centric Care: Perform comprehensive assessments, coordinate individualized care plans, and provide empathetic, personalized care.
• Effective Collaboration: Liaise with internal staff, third-party vendors, and medical professionals.
• Quality Assurance: Lead staff meetings, manage service agreements, update physician order sheets, and ensure compliance with healthcare protocols.
• Continuous Oversight: Manage medication, conduct audits, handle incident reports, and investigations.
• Emergency Response: Assist during emergencies.

Industry Experience Includes, But Is Not Limited To

• Five years of management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of standards of care and practices for geriatric services, complex medical conditions, and promoting independence.
• Experience in geriatric nursing or gerontology, including education on aging, memory decline, and behavior management is highly preferred.
• Expertise in safety and infection control practices.
• Experience in building and leading effective nursing teams, including hiring, training, and development.

• Conflict resolution skills.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• LVN, LPN, or Registered Nurse with a current license in good standing; RN preferred.
• Five to seven years’ experience in a senior care environment preferred.

The salary range for this position is $77,969 to $120,786, based on education, experience, and certifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, disability insurance, 401(k) with match, PTO, flexible hours, employee assistance, and potential bonuses and incentives.
