Job summary

The Nooksack Indian Tribe Head Start program is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support a safe, nurturing classroom. You will assist with daily activities, health and safety practices, and educational planning under the Lead Teacher and Education Coordinator.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and willingness to enroll in a credential program within two years. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or events as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required to begin.
• Willingness to enroll in a credential program within two years of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and engaging up to 20 children with staff support.
• Help plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Support health, safety, hygiene routines, and daily classroom operations.
• Act as bus monitor when assigned and ensure child safety during transportation.
• Maintain classroom documentation including attendance and progress notes.
