Job summary

Independence School District is seeking an Early Education Teacher Assistant to support a Head Start program and assist in implementing performance standards for preschoolers.

Responsibilities include providing a nurturing environment, coordinating activities, communicating with families, and attending meetings. Required are progress toward CDA or degree hours in early childhood, and CPR/EFT readiness as per district policy.

Qualifications

• A degree with nine hours in early childhood coursework.
• Completed CDA.
• Currently enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years.
• Currently enrolled in a degree program with at least nine hours in early childhood coursework.
• Degree and completing 120 CDA clock hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide a nurturing and appropriate learning environment for children in the Early Education program.
• Implement a program that encourages individual differences regardless of abilities, ethnicity, culture, and language.
• Share responsibilities for daily activities, sign in/out, and planning and guiding learning activities.
• Support and implement a process-oriented curriculum.
• Communicate with families and attend parent/staff meetings and trainings.
• Participate in at least two home visits and two parent conferences per year.
• Use positive guidance and discipline techniques.
• Maintain safety awareness in classroom, playground, and field trips.
• Attend required meetings, including evening meetings.
• Submit physical examinations and tuberculin screening as required.
• Complete CPR training within 30 days of hire.
• Follow district policies and be flexible with hours.
• Other duties as assigned.
