Job summary

Nooksack Indian Tribe Head Start is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant (TA) to support the Lead Teacher in delivering a safe, nurturing learning environment for enrolled children. Responsibilities include supervising activities, assisting with lesson planning, health and safety practices, and serving as bus monitor when needed.

The TA will work an 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. schedule, Monday through Friday, with potential evening trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must enroll in a CDA credential program within two years of hire.
• Or enroll in an Early Childhood Associate Degree program within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise up to 20 children with a staff-to-child ratio not exceeding 1:10.
• Assist Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson planning.
• Maintain safety, health checks, and incident reporting per policies.
• Assist with health and hygiene routines, diapering, and cleanliness.
• Serve as bus monitor when assigned and ensure child safety on transport.
• Support developmentally appropriate learning activities and documentation.
