Job summary

Independence School District is seeking an Early Education Teacher Assistant to support the Head Start program. You will assist the teacher, foster a safe, inclusive classroom, and engage families through conferences and home visits.

The role requires CDA-related credentials, ongoing coursework, and CPR training within 30 days of hire. You may be scheduled for nine or twelve months with annual salary discussions by the Board of Education.

Qualifications

• A nurturing learning environment for early education children.
• Program to support individual differences including language and culture.
• Maintain materials, sign-in/out, and participate in daily activities.
• Support a process-oriented curriculum.
• Communicate and build rapport with families.
• Attend parent and staff meetings and trainings.
• Participate in two home visits and two parent conferences yearly.
• Use positive guidance and appropriate discipline techniques.
• Maintain constant supervision and safety of children at all times.
• Collaborate in lesson planning and record keeping.
• Maintain client confidentiality according to policy.
• Attend all required meetings, including evenings.
• Submit initial physical exam and tuberculin screening on hire.
• Complete CPR training within 30 days of hire.
• Follow district policies and procedures.
• Flexible in working alternative hours on nontraditional program days.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
