Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Head Start Teacher Aide to support children and staff at LA-area Head Start and Early Head Start sites. The role focuses on serving meals, ensuring health and safety guidelines, and assisting classrooms during meal times.

Responsibilities include meal preparation, allergy tracking, and collaboration with the central kitchen, site supervisor, and teaching teams to ensure accurate counts and paperwork. Requires health clearances and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• TB clearance, annual influenza vaccination, Pertussis and measles immunization.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and move quickly in a busy environment.
• High School Diploma or GED with 12 ECE/CD units or enrolled in apprenticeship.
• Strong communication with staff, children, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to children and assist classroom staff during meal times.
• Prepare meals and replenish food items as needed.
• Communicate with central kitchen about menus, allergies, and counts.
• Maintain sanitation and prevent cross-contamination.
• Assist classrooms and teachers with meal times and supervision.
