Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is hiring an Early Head Start/Head Start Teacher Aide to support daily classroom activities and meal service for children aged 0–5. The role emphasizes health, safety and nutrition standards, working with site staff, teachers, and volunteers on a busy school site.

Responsibilities include serving meals, assisting classrooms, coordinating with the central kitchen, monitoring allergies, and ensuring CACFP compliance.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Must have access to automobile and valid CA driver’s license or reliable transportation.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior; influenza vaccination; pertussis and measles immunization.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and move quickly in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to children during mealtimes in a professional, courteous manner.
• Prepare meals and replenish food items as needed.
• Communicate with central kitchen and teachers about menus, allergies and counts.
• Maintain sanitation and prevent cross‑contamination; restock kitchen supplies.
