Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support toddlers in Head Start and Early Head Start programs in the Los Angeles area. The role focuses on creating a nurturing, educational environment with activities that foster social, emotional, and physical development.

Responsibilities include planning, implementing curriculum, coordinating with the Co-Teacher and FA, and ensuring health, nutrition and family engagement services are integrated into daily learning.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior to hire.
• Influenza vaccination between Nov 1 and Mar 31.
• Drug-free health screening at employment.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly in a busy classroom.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide developmentally appropriate activities to promote social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.
• Plan and implement the Head Start curriculum in morning and afternoon sessions.
• Collaborate with Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to support enrolled families.
• Integrate Head Start services: parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health.
• Maintain classroom records and submit monthly paperwork timely.
• Observe and assess children’s progress and develop individualized goals.
• Create a learning environment reflecting diverse backgrounds and cultures.
