Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Head Start Teacher Aide to join our school sites and support staff, children, and volunteers daily. You will help deliver meals, assist classrooms, and ensure health, safety, and nutrition guidelines are followed.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the central kitchen, posting menus, tracking allergies, maintaining sanitation, and supporting teachers during meal times while upholding CACFP rules and state licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background check required.
• TB clearance within 6 months prior to hire.
• Influenza vaccination annually (Nov 1–Mar 31) required.
• Pertussis and measles immunization required.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to children during mealtimes and assist classrooms.
• Communicate with central kitchen about menus and allergies.
• Maintain sanitation and prevent cross-contamination.
• Restock kitchen materials and assist with inventory.
• Ensure health and safety in line with licensing requirements.
