Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland is seeking a Head Start Resource Aide to support classroom activities and the well‑being of participating children in a resource‑ful role. You will work with teachers to implement plans and support individualized needs for students in your care.

You will help manage routines, ensure safety, and contribute to an environment that fosters social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Interest in the well-being and education of young children.
• Enthusiasm, patience, good humor, and a good spirit.
• Ability to clearly communicate and listen to families and staff.
• Willingness to obtain 90-hour child care certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide instruction as needed.
• Support children with special needs or individualized plans.
• Assist in managing classroom schedules, routines, and transitions.
• Ensure health, welfare, and safety of children in the program.
• Contribute to a developmentally appropriate environment fostering social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative growth.
