Job summary

The Y of Central Maryland is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher to support curriculum delivery and classroom operations. You will work with teachers, center staff, and families to ensure the safety and development of all children in the program.

You will help create environments that nurture social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative growth and contribute to our mission to empower communities we serve.

Qualifications

• The role requires meaningful interaction with young children in a Head Start setting.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and a 90-hour child care credential are preferred.
• Ability to clearly communicate with families, staff and children.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers and center staff to implement curriculum.
• Ensure health, welfare, and safety of children in the program.
• Support classroom supervision and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with families and family advocates to support outcomes.
• Help create a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
