Job summary

Save the Children in Pineville, LA seeks a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individual and group educational plans for preschool children, promoting social-emotional, physical and cognitive growth. You will ensure compliance with federal/state/local regulations and foster strong partnerships with families.

You will report to the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion, supervising Teacher Assistants and coordinating with Program Aides and Volunteers.

Qualifications

• Requires associate degree in child development or early childhood education with relevant coursework.
• Strong communication and collaboration with families and teams.
• Ability to follow regulations and maintain confidentiality.
• English proficiency in speaking and writing.
• Ability to supervise classroom staff and coordinate with volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Develop individualized and group lesson plans for preschoolers to promote readiness.
• Maintain safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.
• Build relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Maintain records and protect confidentiality.
• Plan observations, assessments, and portfolios for each child.
• Engage with children throughout activities and supervise in all settings.
• Coordinate with Assistant Teacher and aides to support classroom activities.
