Save the Children US is seeking a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement preschool curricula, manage day-to-day classroom operations, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will work closely with families and staff to support children's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

The role reports to the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion and may supervise Teacher Assistants and Volunteers.

Formación

• Associate degree in child development or early childhood education with relevant coursework.
• Strong communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Understanding of Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
• Empathy toward children.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• First aid and pediatric CPR training as required.
• Proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans for preschoolers.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Build relationships with children and families.
• Maintain records in paper and online systems.
• Keep information confidential.
• Plan, conduct and document observations, assessments and screenings; maintain portfolios.
• Keep the manager informed of important issues.
• Supervise Assistants, Program Aides and Volunteers.
• Engage children in activities with active supervision indoors and outdoors.
• Use the playground as a classroom extension and ensure safety.
• Provide a balanced program of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities.
• Eat with and assist children during meals.
• Meet physical needs of children and assist with health and personal habits.
• Engage parents in education and home activities.
• Inventory classroom equipment annually.
• Plan and conduct conferences (min 2) and home visits (min 2).
• Collaborate on professional development plans and align with Head Start standards.
• Ensure safety and active supervision at all times.
• Document matching-in-kind activities.
• Perform other related duties.
