Job summary

Bright Beginnings, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a PreK Assistant Teacher (Head Start) to implement an ongoing program promoting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development for preschool children.

You will support lesson planning, supervise staff and volunteers, and collaborate with the Lead Teacher and Education Director to align with DC Head Start standards and High Scope curriculum. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in ECE or related field with 15 credits in ECE.
• Ability to relate positively to young children, parents, and staff.
• Strong communication and computer skills (MS Office, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Support weekly lesson plans and activities addressing individual goals of children.
• Support day-to-day supervision of staff, substitutes, parent aides, and volunteers; share daily lesson plans.
• Meet regularly with Lead Teacher and Education Director to review curriculum plans and assess program effectiveness.
• Assist with implementing Head Start Performance Standards and High Scope curriculum with fidelity.
• Observe each child daily to assess skills and document progress in portfolio and COR.
• Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions.
