Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support preschool-aged children in social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. You will assist the Teacher in daily classroom operations and model best practices per Head Start standards.

You will build partnerships with families, participate in conferences, and help ensure a safe, developmentally appropriate learning environment. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; ability to follow directions and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Engage with children during activities and supervise indoors and outdoors.
• Assist in planning and conducting activities with Head Start Teacher.
• Maintain classroom management using developmentally appropriate techniques.
• Liaise with families and encourage classroom involvement and home activities.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss development and progress.
