Job summary

Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc. is seeking a Substitute Paraeducator Head Start to help create a safe, supportive environment for 3- to 5-year-olds while assisting the Lead Teacher with materials and classroom setup.

You will provide individualized care to meet each child and family needs in our Head Start program, focusing on social competence and school readiness, with adherence to Head Start standards and WCFD policies.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with children aged 3-5, including those with special needs.
• Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood education principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse individuals.
• Strong communication skills with staff, children, families, and community.

Responsibilities

• Recruit children per guidelines from the Department of Health and Human Services and WCFD.
• Implements set lesson plans in individual, cooperative, small and large group settings.
• Deliver direct services to children and families in various settings.
• Communicate positively with staff, children, and families.
• Work with children who have behavioral concerns, developmental disabilities, or learning impairments.
• Assist in organizing group socialization activities for children and families.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
• Provide individualized educational activities to support exploration and problem-solving.
• Support IFSP/IEP goals with teachers and families.
• Keep classrooms clean, organized, and safe.
• Assume full classroom responsibilities when needed.
• Perform minor first aid and routine hygienic care.
• Provide regular care including diaper changes, feeding, and comforting.
• Participate in child screenings as necessary.
• Assist with outdoor/playground activities.
