Job summary

Rural Utah Child Development (RUCD) is seeking a Fiscal Officer to oversee fiscal operations supporting our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. This role ensures accurate financial records, strong internal controls, compliant grant accounting, and responsible management of agency resources.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborating with program staff and community partners, you will prepare external grant reports, allocate costs to grants, oversee payroll, and manage

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required; significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Strong familiarity with accounting systems, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with fiscal staff, program teams, community partners, and external entities.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage detailed records, deadlines, and multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fiscal operations and financial processes for Head Start programs.
• Maintain accurate financial records and internal controls.
• Prepare and submit grant and federal financial reports.
• Track program expenditures and allocate expenses to grants.
• Oversee non-federal share and in-kind match documentation.
• Lead inventory and asset-tracking in centers and offices.
• Review payroll processes and maintain accurate payroll records.
