Job summary

The Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is seeking a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement early childhood education plans for 3- to 5-year-olds in our center. You will work with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to promote social, cognitive, and emotional development.

Responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, monitoring progress with portfolios, coordinating with staff, and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom.

• Strong classroom management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children per guidance from leaders; customize instruction as needed.
• Perform duties with understanding of Head Start Performance Standards.
• Refer children suspected of having special needs or challenging behavior to appropriate staff.
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs designed with the team, families, schools, and mental health professionals; emphasize least restrictive environment.
