Job summary

SOUTHERN MARYLAND TRI-COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE INC is seeking an Education Coordinator in White Plains, MD to manage Head Start/Early Head Start educational services. The role requires developing and monitoring education plans, coordinating staff training, and ensuring compliance with Maryland standards and federal regulations.

The coordinator will lead program improvement, support classrooms, and collaborate with the director of Educational Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.
• 4 years preschool teaching experience.
• 2 years of experience in mental health service or special education.
• Experience in personnel management in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
• Ability to interpret and train others on federal and state regulations.
• Ability to develop, coordinate, and follow through on projects.
• Strong writing skills; CLASS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Education and Early Childhood Development Performance Standards, including Maryland requirements.
• Review Head Start Performance Standards and develop goals and strategies for implementation.
• Coordinate state accreditation of all classrooms and lead accreditation efforts.
• Provide orientation and training to staff and parents on the education component.
• Monitor and report on EECD services and develop tracking systems for quality improvement.
• Collaborate with county school districts and other agencies to ensure coordinated services.
