Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field.
• 4 years preschool teaching experience.
• 2 years of experience in the Mental Health Service or Special Education field.
• Experience in personnel management is required.
• Working knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start in nonprofit settings preferred.
• Must have a demonstrated record in managing services and programs and achieving deliverables and compliance.
• Must interpret and train others regarding federal and state regulations.
• Must develop, coordinate, and follow through on projects.
• Strong/excellent writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Education and Early Childhood Development Performance Standards and Maryland Department of Education licensing.
• Coordinate state accreditation of all classrooms and provide orientation for the State Self-Assessment.
• Provide technical assistance to classroom staff and submit accreditation packages and improvement plans.
• Attend accreditation meetings and lead efforts to achieve higher MD Excels for centers.
• Provide training to staff and parents on education components and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Develop training plans for teachers and assistants including curricula and behavior management techniques.
• Monitor EECD services, observe classrooms, and ensure follow-up improvements.
• Collaborate with county school districts and advisory boards to coordinate services for children.
• Supervise teachers and teacher assistants and perform other duties as assigned.
