Save the Children 2022 seeks an Assistant Teacher to support preschool children in Head Start classrooms in Albemarle, North Carolina. The role emphasizes safety, development, and family partnerships, aligning with Head Start program standards.

You will assist the Head Start Teacher with daily activities, supervise children, help plan and conduct learning experiences, participate in conferences with families, and contribute to maintaining a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifikationen

• CDA or equivalent credential or enrollment in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of the purpose of Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels including families and community members.
• Ability to work with Head Start Teacher, staff, parents and partners to provide high-quality services.
• Confidential handling of family information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online client management systems.
• Participation in development trainings including basic first aid and pediatric CPR as required by state licensing and HSPPS

Aufgaben

• Engage with children during activities and supervise indoors and outdoors.
• Assist in planning activities with Head Start Teacher to meet individual needs.
• Guide classroom projects and field trips.
• Maintain a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Interact with children one-on-one and in small groups.
• Build relationships with families and the organization.
• Ensure safety of children with active supervision practices.
• Support compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
• Document observations, assessments and screenings; participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Lead in the absence of the Head Start Teacher and perform related duties as assigned.
